K-2 TREK WITH RETURNING VIA GONODOGORO LA AND HUSHE VALLEY
A combination of the famous K-2 trek with an exciting traverse of the Gondogoro La (Pass). This trek requires previous experience in climbing and use of basic mountaineering hardware

K-2 BASE CAMP TREKS WITH TRAVERSE OF GONDOGORO LA
(PASS) DURING, SUMMER 2008

This is the ultimate challenge for the veteran trekkers. Karakorums/Karakorams are the most forbidding mountains in the world with over 70 mountains above 7000 meters and four above 8000 meters. Some of the largest glaciers outside the Polar ice caps flow through these immense mountains giving birth to the wildest rivers in the world. This is a land of extremes and this challenging trek allows you to experience the unique challenges of Karakorums. The 32 days trek begins from the beautiful Hunza valley, a region also known as Shangrila/Shangri-La or heaven on earth. The thrilling half day jeep journey leads you to the heart of the peaceful Nagar valley. From the small village of Hisper you begin the adventurous trek into the great Karakorum wilderness and will not see another village for another thirty days. With an army of porters and an experienced mountain guide you pick your way over the rough Hisper glacier to the freezing heights of Hisper La which leads to the eternal ice of the Snow lake. After exploring this region at an altitude of over 5000 meters you descend on the great Biafo glacier and into the valley of Braldu river. A couple of days trek through Braldu gorge leads you to the great Baltoro glacier with the most remarable moutain vieastas in the world. After a visit to the base camp of K-2 (the second highest in world at 8611 meter) return to Concordia and proceed over Vigne glacier to the popular Gondogoro La. This pass leads you into the beautiful Hushe valley over shadowed by the massif of Masherbrum. Here you will have an option to climb the 6000 meters high Gondogoro Peak and have a superb panoramic view of Eastern Karakorams and great Himalayas all the way to ladakh and Kashmir. The relatively easy trek of last few days bring you to the peaceful Hushe village marking your return to civilization. This trek is suitable for experienced trekkers only with basic mountaineering skills. Take the greatest challenge of a lifetime.
