Mount Lhotse Expedition takes place in the Everest region of Nepal residing at the south of Mount Everest standing proud at the height of 8516 meters above sea level. Mount Lhotse is the fourth highest mountain of the world. The word Lhotse gives the meaning as “South Peak” in Tibetan language. Lhotse was considered as the south peak of Mount Everest until the Everest was ascended and found out Lhotse is an independent peak. This mountain is located at the borders of Tibet and khumbu region of Nepal. The peak of Lhotse is resided 3 kilometers away on south of Mount Everest. Mount Lhotse is divided in to three peaks as main summit of 8,516 meters high above sea level; Lhotse Middle (East) is 8,414 meters high above sea level; Lhotse Shar is 8,383 meters high above sea level. Mount Lhotse was initially ascended by two Swiss in 1956 named as Fritz Luchsinger and Ernest Reiss.
The Lhotse Base Camp situated aside the glacier of Khumbu is same as Mount Everest base camp. Mount Lhotse is famous for its closeness to Mount Everest beside that it is considered as hardest climbing mountain than the Everest. Lhotse is one of the later ascended peaks than Everest due to its difficult in nature in climbing but it is famed for its wonder and remarkable south face. The elevation on south face of Lhotse rises to 3.2 kilometers with in the distance of 2.25 kilometers resulting as the steepest face among all the summits of Everest region. The south face of Lhotse is considered as the largest mountain face of the world and is exceptionally hard to climb and rarely attempted.
Mount Lhotse Expedition takes the travelers to the summit of Lhotse through the easy and regular climbing routes guiding them till the top of the summit. The regular climbing route of Mount Lhotse is the same route as South Col route of Mt. Everest till the yellow band past high camp III. Then crossing the yellow band the travelers leave the Everest trail turning left above the Geneva Spur upwards till the South Col taking right further upwards the Lhotse Face. Finally the ending trails to the summit passes via a narrow passage till the main peak of Lhotse is ascended.
