The Jiri to Everest Base Camp trekking is a classic walking trail towards the Everest Base Camp starting from Jiri traversing through villages, farming lands, forests, and hills of Nepal. This is a dive in to the rural sectors of Nepal set up in the backdrop of traditional and rural villages, civilizations, forests and trekking foothills on the borders of Himalayas and river banks. This is a trekking adventure starting from the low elevation ending to the highest elevation of Everest base camp. The places are full of photogenic natural scenes and landscapes which are one of kind in the world.
The Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is a classic trekking foothill to Everest region of Nepal ending at the Kalapatthar region. The trekking adventure is full of gigantic mountains, green glacier Gokyo Lakes, glacier river gorges, ice glaciers in the encompassed in lush vegetations and enchanting natural beauty. This is the one of kind trekking adventure of anyone’s life time and is considered as one of best destined travel destination of the world.
The trekking adventure starts from the Kathmandu City where travelers take the 8-hour vehicle ride to Jiri residing at the Dolkha district of Nepal at the altitude of 2100meters above sea level. The trekking trails are the traditional foothill used by early everest expeditors when there was no airplane facility to everest region of Nepal. This trekking route has the advantage of acclimatize during the travel letting the travelers to walk till the height of 9000 meters even higher than Mount Everest. The trekking adventure is a total 190 kilometers walk on foot traversing the hills and highlands of 9000 meters high of the Everest region which make this trip as a legendary travel adventure to anyone’s lifetime.
On your date of arrival, Himalayan Alpine Adventure Trek and expedition will be there to welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. We will pick you and shift you in a tourist standard hotel as per booking for an overnight accommodation
On this day, we offer you a welcome dinner at a typical Nepali Restaurant where you will taste different varieties of Nepali food. Your overnight accommodation remains unchanged.
Unlike flight to Lukla, we rake in a bus to Jiri early morning through Araniko Highway. Kathmandu to Jiri drive takes 6 to 7 hours. This drive for Everest Jiri Trekking is aspiring as you will be enjoying the nature all around you with green terraced farm, waterfalls, the Himalayas and the rivers. You will pass by the Bhote Koshi River that is famous worldwide for rafting and bungee jumping. Jiri Trekking with rafting and bungee jumping could be a great beginning for venturesome Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek.
The drive is a pleasing one as we cross the typical Newari villages of Dhulikhel and Banepa. Once we move further from here, we get so wonderful views of Himalayas in the east like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal and Dorje Lakpa. We reach Dolalghat where we see big blue sparkling river and head north following the Sunkoshi River. After a while, we reach Jiri and stay overnight here. Your accommodation would be in a hotel/lodge where meals will be provided on full board basis.
Because of the landscape in Jiri, it resembles to be like Switzerland, and due to this, it is well known as Switzerland of Nepal. From Jiri we move towards Deurali where we would be staying for night. Jiri comprises of abundant natural beauties and we pass many villages as well as viewpoints like Mali, Shivalaya, Bhandar and finally at Deurali. We stay overnight at Deurali, your accommodation would be in a hotel/lodge where meals will be provided on full board basis.
To reach Sete from Deurali, we step with many ups and downs along the deep forests, streams and various tiny settlements like Branda and Dokharpa. Continuing our journey to Sete, we cross Likhu River and a there. Rambling ahead, we climb the ridge for Kenja and ascend towards Chimbu. From Chimbu, we descend and walk forward, there comes a beautiful Sethe village where we would spend the night in a hotel/lodge; meals will be provided on full board basis.
The trail to Junbesi might be somewhat tough as we need cross the Lanjura La Pass at an elevation od 3530m. To reach here, we first come across places like Dakachu and Goyam where you will be noticing Mani walls around. A little further from here, our trail ascends towards Lamjura Danda along the Rhododendron, Fir Pine, Magnolia, Maple and Birch forest, the pathway is straight upwards. As we cross Lamjura, we reach Taktor and we follow the Taktor River. After walking for a while from here, we arrive at Junbesi, the Sherpa Village. We would spend the night in a hotel/lodge; meals will be provided on full board basis at Junbesi
Ascending from Junbeshi, we cross Junbeshi Khola from where we descend towards Phurteng. Phurteng will let you detain the views of Everest, Thamserku and Mera peaks. From Phurteng, we climb up the trail to Salung where the Hydro Power Prayer Heels exists. Further, we reach Ringmu after crossing Gongbo Khola. Ringmu appears to be a dazzling village as it consists of Monasteries, Chorten, Information Boards and Cheese Factory. In order to pass Ringmu, we also need to come over Taksindu La at 3670m height. Downing towards Nunthala, we go down the trail along conifer and rhododendron forests, terraced fields and finally reach at Nunthala where we would stay overnight in a hotel/lodge; meals will be provided on full board basis at Nunthala.
From Nunthala, we head towards Bupsa following the ascending trails mostly. While walking, we cross a suspension bridge near Jubhing following the Jiri Everest Trail. We cross Khari Khola near Bupsa, heart touching view of Mount Khumbila can be seen from here. A little ahead, we enter Bupsa. We would stay overnight in a hotel/lodge; meals will be provided on full board basis at Nunthala.
Up along the trail from Bupsa, we cross a Kanre River. Further ahead comes a slippery trail, we pass by and again we cross a wooden bridge over Piya River. Ascending forward, we arrive at Paiya, the small settlement with various offices, schools and information board. We stay overnight in a hotel/lodge of Paiya where meals will be provided on full board basis.
From Paiya, we climb upwards and cross Chutok La (2945m). Further from here, we reach Surkhe, a valley situated on a tributary of the Dudh Koshi. We walk steadily from here and cross a bridge over Kamswaya River. Along the way we find, monasteries and chorten and finally arrive at Phakding where a 500 year old monastery exist. We take in the first view of Konge Ri peak and stay overnight in a hotel/lodge of Phakding where meals will be provided on full board basis.
From Phakding, we walk towards Namche Bazaar, our second destination of the Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek. Passing by Rimshung Monastery and Uchhecholing Monastery, we climb up along the trail and visit Sagarmatha National Park. You can have the internet access here. Moving forward, we cross Larbha Dobhan and taking further step ahead, we will witness the first view of Mount Everest. Climbing up the path, we are finally at Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar is the main gateway to Everest, you will find colorful Khumbu villages, Banks, Money Exchanger, Internet café and overall all the facilities you can find in the city. On Saturday, a special market appears here, people come here to sell their products and buy things necessary for them. Our accommodation would be on a tea house or lodge in full board basis.
This day is the rest day as we need enough time for acclimatization; however, if you are willing to hike for sometime then we take you to famous Everest View Hotel that takes around 3 hours to catch glimpses of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse and others. On our way back, we’ll visit Hilary and Sherpa museum, also the Khumjung valley. You will get teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
Heading towards Tengboche from Namche, the first view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku is witnessed. Moving forward, we pass by an Army Barrack at Phunke Tenga and arrive at Tengboche. Tengboche is famous for the Buddhist Monastery, we visit and explore the monastery. Our accommodation would be on a tea house or lodge in full board basis.
Ascending along the stone steps, we see the National Park Head Office as we pass by Deboche. Following up the path, we reach Pangboche where a religious place called Pangboche Gompa exists. Walking over some flat trails, surpassing tea shops, we arrive at Dingboche. Here, you get teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
This day is the rest day for acclimatization and the last leg of the journey as well. You can take full rest or if interested explore the areas over there. A trek to Chhukung that takes around 3 to 4 hours can be taken. Walking towards east, within Imja Tsha valley, the path leads to Chukkung. You might experience thin air here as the altitude gains. At Chhukung, there are few teahouses and you can have superb view of the snow capped peaks and glaciers. Enjoying the sceneries all around, we stroll back to Dingboche for an overnight stay in the same tea house/lodge.
Beginning from Dingboche, we head towards Lobuche walking over the mani stones. Taking gradual steps, we will follow the trail of Three High Passes Trek. The trek is quite strenuous as we need to cross Kongma La Pass that resides at an altitude of 5535m. Moving forward, passing by the High camp, we reach Lobuche. At Lobuche, we stay for overnight in a teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
Climbing high, we follow Everest Base Camp Trek trail, and come across Pyramid, Lobuche pass at 5110m, and Gorakshe Tsho Lake at Gorakshep. We have lunch at Gorakshep and stepping up, passing by Camp and Pumori B.C., we reach Everest Base Camp (5364). We come back to Gorakshep for an overnight stay in a tea house or lodge in full board basis.
In order to snap in the breathtaking morning view, the sunrays over the snow capped Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nupse and others, we walk towards Kala Patthar at an altitude of 5550m. From Kala Patthar, we descend towards Dingboche via Lobuche and finally stay at Pheriche you get teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
From Pheriche, we retrace our route back to Tengboche via Pangboche. We stay overnight at Guesthouse
We descend over the steep path and cross the Dudh Koshi River at Phunke Tenga. At Phunke Tenga, there is an Army Barrack and water driven prayer wheels. We then move towards Namche via Khyangjuma. We stay overnight in a teahouse or lodge where meals will be provided on full board basis.
Walking down from here, we pass the Everest view point and Larja Dobhan. Following back the same trail towards Lukla via Phakding and the same glorious views as well the Sherpa valleys around, we step in Lukla. Coming nearer to the point of beginning of this wonderful journey, we enjoy the last memories of our trek with verdant greeneries all around. We will stroll around the Lukla and also reconfirm the flight ticket on this day. Rejoicing the very last moments of our Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo, we celebrate and have dinner with the crew members. We stay in a hotel at night where you will get meals on full board basis.
We will take in Lukla to Kathmandu flight that is around 30 to 40 minutes. You will meet the team of Imperial Nepal who will drop you at the Hotel you stayed before (unless changed). As this is the last day, we enjoy the farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with live music and rejoice the moments.
